Alcalá del valle is one of that make
up the Route of the White Villages and here you can
relax and experience the spell cast by the place.
One of the visits not to be missed is to the sixteenth
century Caños Santos convent, located in a
large grove in the natural surroundings of Tomillos,
a broad expanse of crock oak and fig trees where a
stroll is a pleasure, as is a visit to the Holy week,
which has been designated of National Tourist Interest
in Andalusia.
It is presented by three brotherhoods known as the
whites the Reds and the Purples. On resurrection Sunday
the traditional parade of the hornazos is held and
also the traditional St. John’s Race in which
the image is carried on the backs of young people
who run to meet the Virgin Mary. A few days later
the Caños Santos Pilgrimage is held. Cadiz province
