Pollença has a privileged
geographic location for nature lovers; hikers will
find a great number of choices through its landscapes. |
The area has rich botanic native species that are manifested
through different vegetal communities that go from the
holmoak to the most extense areas of wild olive trees.
Bush, rockroses and palm trees called “garbelló”,
and there is even an endemic plant the Naufraga Balearica
that grows in an area near the Cala Sant Vicenç
mountain range. The ornithologists will also be able to
enjoy the fisher eagle which is found in the Albufereta-
natural reserve of 295 hectareas through which the Font
de Mal Any and El rec torrents go and other species like
the black vulture and the hawk.
Puig de Santuirí is a green space for public use
located at 1.5 km from Pollença on the road that
joins Pollença to Port de Pollença Bay.
L´albufereta is an humid area of flooding swamps
and fields of reeds. It has been lately declared a Natural
Park.
